Both of my parents' family tradition was to give names based on relatives. Thankfully, my parents chose to do that with middle names rather than first names. I share my middle name with the first name of both my maternal and paternal aunts. I'm not sure how my first name was actually chosen, but I was given my own first name. Since I liked my birth last name, I chose to use it as my middle name once I married.
